This is a fundraiser for the members of the community who would like to support Meagher's Grant Community Hall without any financial obligations. FundScrip is a National Fundraising Program which has been established more than 10 years ago (2004) and has proved itself with numerous non-profit organizations across the country. It is based on the usage of gift cards. Following is how it works:

  • Meaghers Grant Volunteer Fire Department who operates the Meaghers Grant Community Hall has registered as a non-profit organization with FundScrip.

  • Members of the community who wish to support the Hall may order gift cards through the Treasurer of the Hall. $25 gift card costs $25 with no hidden fees.

  • FundScrip orders gift cards in bulk for a cost lower than the value of the gift card and sell them to supporters at face value. So depending on the retailer, a percentage of 2% to 10% goes to support the Hall.

  • The Community Hall will place an order 3rd Friday of each month. The person who wish to place an order will fill an order form and submit it and the payment to the Treasurer. The cards will be received and distributed within 10 days of the order being placed to FundScrip.

  • There are currently 97 participating retailers in Nova Scotia such as Sobeys, Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart, Gap, Sears, Subway, restaurants, gas stations, hotels and much more. The gift cards are available to order from $5 to $250 depending on the retailer. All the options are listed on the order form.

  • Here is an example: if you regularly spend $200 per month on groceries at Sobeys, you can buy $200 worth of gift cards for Sobeys. You use those gift cards to pay for your groceries. You spend the same amount as usual but $6 is sent to the Hall as support.

The committee is really hoping that you will be willing to support the Community Hall and assist us in providing the community with activities and events to improve the quality of life of our members.
